Step7

Solve - Top face Middle pieces

Prerequisite:
  • A Rubik's cube with bottom and middle layer completed.
  • Also complete yellow top face with corner pieces completed.
Outcome:
  • Completely solved Rubik's cube.

Before start solving this step, we need to check the state of the Rubik's cube.
  • Case1: Top layer middle pieces completed and Rubik's cube is completed.
  • Case2: One side face is completed.
  • Case3: None of the side faces completed.
Steps to be followed to solve "Top face - Middle pieces"
We need to perform different moves based on the state of Rubik's cube as discussed below.

If Case1: No need to perform this step as the Rubik's cube is completely solved.
If Case2: Hold the Rubik's cube such that the completed side face is right face. Then perform the algorithm which will reposition the other three middle pieces in anti-clock wise by one step. each time the algorithm is performed.

NOTE: If the top layer edge pieces are not set in correct positions, then perform the algorithm one more time which should complete the cube.

If Case3: Hold the Rubik's cube with white as bottom face and any side face as right face. Then perform the algorithm once which brings the Rubik's cube to Case2 discussed above.

Perform the moves we have for Case2 to solve Top face corner pieces.

Yes!! You have solved the Rubik's cube!!

NOTE: What actually happens when we perform the algorithm (L180,Ti,B,Fi,L180,Bi,F,Ti,L180) mentioned in this step?
The edge pieces on the top layer move anti-clockwise without disturbing the other pieces that are already set in correct locations as mentioned in the below diagram in which the top yellow face is shown.

  2. Every now and then I try to solve my cube just to pass time, but I always forget this step. Luckily this site is to the rescue
